My Story…

My Migraine Journey By Lynn Julian My chronic migraine journey started at puberty, with a flood of hormones, and only visited once a year. It typically showed up after the five hour Christmas drive to Connecticut visiting relatives, and the stress of them fighting. Maybe my teenage migraine is connected to that tick stuck in my head for days when I was 7, living outside of Lyme, CT. Watching me writhe in pain, my poor parents felt forced to go to an expensive ER, where I’d get a VERY painful shot in my bum, and fall asleep. No treatment, no advice, no diagnosis and no referral were offered. I was gaslighted by doctors, misleading my family with, “It’s just stress.“ They shamed me into believing a neurological disease was MY fault! Undiagnosed, my migraine grew worse in college, during exams. It flared, into monthly, after a swarm of moose flies attacked me. A 2006 disabling stage caused me chronic migraine. The 4/15/13 Boston Marathon bombing left me with TBI & daily migraine.
